the practice is the path.
“want to know if something is working? stop doing it for a while and see what happens.”
i went through a bit of a rough patch recently, feeling completely out of sync. nothing made sense, nothing felt right. it just wasn’t clicking. little things were annoying me, i just couldn’t get the hang of it.
and then last week, things started to come together. i felt like myself again. i even had quite a profound moment of realisation about something else i’ve been struggling with (more on that another time).
how? i practiced. i returned to the mat after a week or so, got out of my head and into my body, and it made me think of this quote above, written by someone who, even after a deep search, i don’t know wrote it. it reminded me, again and again, how profound the asana practice, which to the eye of a stranger can just look like a bunch of shapes and stretches, really is.
lesson learned? when in doubt, practice. whatever form works for you. the practice is the path.
