heart + soil, sicily retreat
sept 11-15, 2026

what to expect

join me for 5 days (4 nights) of yoga, farm-to-table food, rest and community. reconnect with nature, embrace permaculture, and experience authentic sicilian farm life.

this retreat is designed as a small, intentional gathering. with only 5 rooms available, the experience remains personal, spacious, and held with care.

i grew up in the countryside in the czech republic, surrounded by greenery, overlooking the mountains, and my mum had a little garden with vegetables and fruit. i loved spending time there with her, mostly eating what was, or was not, ready. food has always been a huge part of my life, and i deeply care about where it comes from and how it’s handled, much like yoga, much like community. so bringing these three foundation pillars together in an environment where these values are shared feels like a dream come true. i hope you can join me.

about permanido:
a regenerative farmstay in the heart of sicily

Permanido was born from a belief that farming can heal.

In 2018, Sam and Christina left behind city life to purchase a neglected farm in the Nebrodi Mountains of northern Sicily. What started as a radical experiment in regenerative agriculture has become something far greater — a living proof that working with nature, rather than against it, produces abundance.

permanido grew from a shared need to reconnect with the land. sam and Christina were living in Malta, feeling the pull of something deeper. they wanted to stop talking about regeneration and start doing it. So they uprooted their lives and planted themselves in the Nebrodi Mountains of Sicily.

What they found was wild, rocky hillside — depleted soil and overgrown scrub. What they saw was potential. A chance to prove that regenerative agriculture doesn't just sustain a landscape — it can bring one back to life.

their goal is simple: leave the land better than they found it, and invite others into that process. Permanido is a living classroom — food forests maturing, soil improving year on year, biodiversity expanding across the hillside.

permanido supports local artisans, farmers, and traditions. Permanido exists within — not apart from — the wider Sicilian community. Our dream is to build a haven for green hands everywhere.

Today, Permanido is home to over 40 species of fruit trees, a thriving ecosystem of pollinators, and a community of guests who come seeking exactly what the land offers: stillness, nourishment, and a slower way of being.

optional extra activities

01 / guided local tour

led by knowledgeable local guides, explore the Nebrodi Mountains and the charming towns around Permanido through an authentic and immersive guided tour.

02 / cooking class

Using ingredients harvested that morning, you'll prepare a full seasonal menu alongside resident chef, SAM, from handmade pasta to slow-simmered sauces that celebrate the deep connection between Sicilian food and the land.

03 / farm immersion

Explore the land with a hands-on walk through gardens, orchards, and seasonal spaces across the farm.

faqs

  • these are the two available airports:

    • Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA): ~108 km from Tortorici. It is the most convenient airport for flights and transportation connections.

    • Reggio Calabria Airport (REG): , located on the mainland, this is a closer option by distance (across the Strait of Messina) but often less convenient for reaching inland towns like Tortorici.

i recommend booking your flights early for the best price.

  • permanido is about 2-hour drive from catania airport, and i will be in touch closer to the date with flights suggestions and arrival + departure suggestions.

transport cost is not included in the price, however, i can help organising the transport for extra cost.

alternatively, some people might benefit from hiring a car, especially if you’re staying in sicily longer, or arriving sooner to explore sicily before the retreat.

  • After booking, i will send you a Welcome Packet with everything you need to know: detailed schedules, packing list recommendations, add-ons to consider, and more.

on the first evening of a retreat, we will have a shorter practice + dinner together, so please arrive no later than 5pm.

on our last morning, we will also have a shorter practice and breakfast together.

  • you can bring your own mat, if you prefer; however, all mats and props are provided.

  • yes, this retreat is open to absolutely everyone of any level.
